Michael Sater is an Acting and Movement Teacher, Director, and Devisor who has led workshops, taught classes, and guided productions, while keeping his creative career active in productions all over the country.
Michael has had the good fortune to train with master teachers, performers, and creators such as Wendell Beavers, Jeffrey Sichel, Stephen Wangh, Noreen Barnes, Barbara Dilley, Frankie Armstrong, Lee Worley, Erik Ehn, and with the DAH Theatre of Serbia. As a perpetual student of theatre pedagogies and techniques, Michael has studied with masters and practitioners of Viewpoints, Suzuki Method, Moment Work, Roy Hart Vocal Technique, Developmental Technique, Body-Mind Centering®, Acting with Archetypes, and Performance as Activism.
Michael has led classes and workshops at Piven Theatre School, North Central College, Naropa University, St. James Cathedral, and with many middle and high schools in the Chicago Public School system.
As an actor and director, Michael has worked in a variety of educational and professional venues including Virginia Commonwealth University, Naropa University, Henley Street Theatre Company and the Firehouse Theatre in Richmond, VA, The Band of Toughs Theatre Collaboratory in Boulder, CO, and Oracle Productions, The Alluvium Group, Odradek Theatre Company, and Stage B Theatre Company in Chicago, IL.
Beyond the world of theatre, Michael is a carpenter, engineer, and writer with a lifelong passion for learning, teaching, and creating.
